1. Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Performance Mon application might help resolve problems.

3. Lower priority of all other processes
4. Set Affinity may help, but not in MP systems
5. Period registry entry does not impact how often time is synched via NTP. On Windows 2000, w32tm -period n will cause updates more often. There is seems to be no equivalent on XP. When the W32Time service is restarted NTP is queried.
6. Restarting the W32Time service every so often may help
7. Install a more controllable NTP client
8. On a server that is designated BOTH (LANforge GUI and Resource) be sure to make the Data priority HIGH and the Manager priority Above Normal. Seems to work better this way.
