Streaming YouTube (Layer 4-7) on Linux/Windows Resources

Goal:

Setup

On any resource:

Windows:

  1. Create a layer 4-7 endpoint.
  2. Make sure the selected resource is a windows machine.
  3. Select the correct port you wish to stream YouTube over.
    • NOTE: This is important, YouTube will not stream if this port (i.e. wlan0) is not connected to an AP with internet. Make sure in the testbed that this windows machine is on, that atleast wlan0 can connect to the internet.
  4. Put desired URL into URL textbox.
  5. Make sure to check the boxes Real Browser and Video Stream.
  6. Hit Apply and Ok.
  7. Hit Start.
    • NOTE: If you are not getting any output, make sure step 3a and 3b are correct.

Linux:

Troubleshooting selenium install: If you encounter errors such as cannot find webdriver, locate the .cache directory and rm -rf selenium. Running the endpoint again should redownload and fix any driver problems.

  1. Create a layer 4-7 endpoint.
  2. Make sure the selected resource is a linux machine (tested with 523c).
  3. Select the correct port you wish to stream YouTube over.
    • Refer to sections 3a and 3b from windows, here.
  4. Put desired URL into textbox.
  5. Make sure to check the boxes Real Browser and Video Stream.
  6. Hit Apply and Ok.
  7. Hit Start.
    • NOTE: If you are not getting any output, make sure step 3a and 3b are correct.
